The Brown Raise Seminar

The Brown Raise attempts to scale the heights of Filipino nationhood by offering seminars and lectures in and outside of the country, which deal with Philippine History, Filipipno Heroes and the country’s current challenges and problems. It also aims to provide educational¬† scholarships to young filipinos who carry the brown raise dream and who will use their future to build the country. The Brown Raise is also a research organization that aims to provide resources and materials such as DVDs, books, pamphlets and brochures.

The whole day seminar was held here in cebu last February 24, 2009, a tuesday. I honestly was ignorant about what this was all about and here I thought it was just a cultural show-thing. But I was dead wrong and was ashamed that I even though that it was “JUST A CULTURAL SHOW”.

I really learned a damn lot about myself, my origins, roots, and our county’s and fellow filipinos current challenges and problems. I learned alot about Philippine History which was not taught in school. Most of our schools that the Philippines’ history starts during the Arrival of Magellan in our country in 1521, but the reality is, we had a far more “Cool” and rich history before his arrival in which very few of us know or even appreciate.

Truly the seminar was AWESOME TO THE MAX even though we were cold and hungry and sometimes faced with information overload, emotional swings and Nosebleed with some tagalog terms, we still stayed to the end and one could say it was all worth it.

Simply put, this movement was birthed to help Filipinos look up to themselves with dignity and worth.
